Electrolyzer Test Rig

The centre’s Universal Electrolyzer Test Facility is a flagship rig capable of validating Alkaline, PEM, and AEM technologies at scales ranging from 5 kW to 100 kW. It features a variable DC power supply that mimics intermittent renewable energy inputs to test real-world performance and durability. Equipped with full utilities—including water treatment and $H_2/O_2$ purification—the system monitors critical parameters like stack voltage and cell-level impedance. Having recently completed its Factory Acceptance Test (FAT), the first 100 kW rig is scheduled for delivery in 2026 to set new benchmarks for domestic electrolyzer testing.

Fuel Cell Vehicle Test Rig

Designed to certify India’s hydrogen-powered heavy mobility, the Fuel Cell Vehicle Test Rig supports systems from 50 kW to 250 kW in alignment with National Green Hydrogen Mission targets. The facility operates in two stages: primary fuel cell stack compliance and full vehicle-level integration for accelerated durability testing. By partnering with ARAI and MNRE, the rig ensures all systems meet rigorous Indian regulatory standards for safety and performance. Integrated with the centre’s diagnostic digital twin, it provides advanced failure mode predictions ahead of its Q1 FY 2027-28 commissioning.
